Alt+F4 is an incremental game about the most satisfying click on a computer: closing a window. Boot up an early-2000s PC, open a suspicious "gift" from your desktop, and watch it unleash an endless stream of pop-ups, error boxes, installers and frozen programs.

Every window you close pays coins. Every open window eats memory. Let the RAM fill up and the whole computer crashes.

Close everything

• Error cascades and command-window bursts that bury your desktop in seconds
• "Are you sure?" dialogs, installers you have to click through, runaway windows that dodge your cursor
• Pop-up ads that open two more when you close them
• Programs that are Not Responding: the X won't work, so open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and End Task
• Worms that copy themselves, security checks that want a code, and a Disk Defragmenter you must not close

Get help

Hire an Intern, an Antivirus, an Automation Script and a Sysadmin. Their cursors fly around your desktop clicking through windows for you, even while you're away.

Fight the bosses

VIRUS.EXE and the Trojan Horse show up as your PC gets more infected, and the X won't touch them. Open the Registry Editor and delete the virus's startup entry before it finishes installing. Find the Trojan in Task Manager, where it poses as svchost.exe, and end it before it uploads your files.

Start over, stronger

Format C: to reinstall your system for Clean Installs, then spend them in the BIOS Setup on perks that last forever. When you're ready, install a real antivirus and survive its 5-minute Full System Scan while FREE_RAM_DOUBLER.exe fights back.
